COLLEGE PARK, MD - The Terrapins men's and women's track and field teams will open their season on Saturday, January 15, at the Nittany Lion Challenge in University Park, PA.
As the Terps enter the 2022 indoor season with high hopes, they will be led by a number of veteran competitors including graduate student Angel Nkwonta who competed in the women's shot put at the 2021 NCAA Indoor Championships as well as senior Kaithon McDonald (high jump) and junior Caleb Dean (400h) who both competed for the Terps at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championship meet in Eugene, Oregon.
Along with their strong core of veteran athletes, the Terps will also be joined by several freshman and transfer students looking to have a strong impact in their first seasons for Maryland.
After opening the season at the Nittany Lion Challenge, the squad will once again travel to University Park to compete in the Penn State National Open (1/22-23) followed by trips to the Kentucky Rod McCravy Invite (1/28-29) in Lexington KY, the Dr. Sanders Invite (2/4-5) in New York, NY and the Virginia Tech Challenge in Blacksburg VA (2/18-19). They will close their season at the 2022 Indoor Big Ten Indoor Championship meet (2/25-26) held at the Spire Institute in Geneva, OH. Post season competition will include the NCAA Indoor Championships in Birmingham, AL.
