Audrey Barber and junior
Reese McClure have been selected as Maryland's Gymnasts to Watch, as announced by the Big Ten.
Barber is a returning all-around competitor and three-time All-Big Ten Team selection. The Temple Hills, Maryland native holds the program record score on bars (9.950) in addition to career highs on vault (9.900), beam (9.900) and floor (9.925). Entering her fifth year of collegiate competition, she holds a personal best 39.550 high score in the all-around. Barber ranks in the Top-10 in the Maryland gymnastics all-time scoring list, and has competed as a four year all-around gymnast in more than 33 meets in her career.
This is Barber's fifth Big Ten Gymnast to Watch selection.
McClure earns her first Gymnast to Watch nod, after a breakout 2021 season. The junior earned her first All-Big Ten honors, being named to the second team. McClure notched her career high on beam (9.925) and season best 9.925 on floor in Maryland's first meet of the season, and tied her career best 9.900 on vault against No. 1 Michigan (03/12).
The Teps were selected to finish sixth in the annual Big Ten Coaches' Poll.
Maryland will open the 2021 season in Pittsburgh, PA at the Pitt Tri-Meet on Sunday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m.
