BLACKSBURG, VA – The Maryland track and field teams closed out their indoor regular season on day two of the Virginia Tech Challenge. Top tier performances were achieved across the board. The Terps will now set their sights to the Big Ten Indoor Championship meet, which will be held next weekend in Geneva, OH.

Women's Notes

Jaida Smith set a new personal best in the 200m dash, sprinting across the finish line in 24.58s. This time placed Smith third in the event.

Sophomore Madison Depry cleared 1.71m in the high jump, earning a second place finish. Depry has been consistent in placing in the top three in high jump this season.

Senior Chelsey Cole continued her successful indoor season, jumping 12.31m in the triple jump and finishing in fifth place.

In a strong shot put field, Angel Nkwonta earned second place, throwing 15.30m. Kamryn Henderson set a new personal record of 14.66m in the event, finishing in sixth place. Sarah George threw to a season best 13.59m.
Men's Notes

Jeff Kline continued his stellar indoor season, throwing 18.27m in the shot put. This is an indoor season best and earned Kline the 2nd place finish in the competition.

Gerald Norgbe jumped a personal best 14.88m in the triple jump, which earned a second place result in the event.

Senior Kaithon McDonald cleared 2.08m, closing his fantastic indoor season with a third place finish in the high jump.

Kamari Trotz sprinted to a personal record 22.04s finish enroute to finishing sixth place in the 200m. Joseph Ewan (22.24s) also had a great showing in the 200m, as he earned a top ten finish.

The men's 4 x 400 squad of Joseph Ewan, Caleb Dean, Maxwell Myers and Colin Rowe closed out the meet. Their impressive 3:13.20 finish is the third fastest 4 x 400 time in Terrapins history.

"Today was another example of things coming together as we close out regular season competition for indoor track. We still have a lot more competing ahead of us and I am proud of the way this group is progressing."

Maryland will travel to the Spire Institute in Geneva, OH on Friday (2/18) and Saturday (2/19) to compete at the 2022 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championship meet.
