No. 1 Terps Set For Meeting With Michigan

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The unanimously top-ranked Maryland men's lacrosse team continues Big Ten action on the road against the Michigan Wolverines this Saturday at Noon. Maryland is riding an eight-game winning streak with 20 consecutive regular season victories while Michigan has dropped their last three contests.

MICHIGAN STORYLINES

HIGH-OCTANE OFFENSE
  • Maryland has scored 65 goals in its past three the most in 66 years. In 1956, the Terps scored 66 goals against Syracuse, Loyola (MD), and Washington & Lee.
  • Seven Terps have already scored double-digit goals through eight games: Logan Wisnauskas (24), Jonathan Donville (19), Keegan Khan (13), Eric Malever (13), Owen Murphy (12), Anthony DeMaio (10), and Kyle Long (10).
  • A Terrapin has recorded a hat trick in 47 consecutive games. 
  • Maryland is averaging a scoring margin of ten as they average 18.3 goals per game while limiting foes to 8.3.
  • The team's 40.3 shot percentage is the nation's best rate.

  • Fifth-year senior Logan Wisnauskas has established himself as one of the most dangerous offensive players in college lacrosse during his career with the Terps, and now leads the Maryland offense in his final year with the program. Here's a look at Wisnauskas by the numbers.

    5 – Wisnauskas (168) is ranked fifth on the active list of D1 players in goals, 23 behind the active leader in Chris Gray of North Carolina (191)

    4 – Wisnauskas currently ranks third in Division I in career points with 282.

    2 – Wisnauskas currently ranks second all-time at Maryland in career points (282) and career goals (168). He's nine away frompassing Jared Bernhard for all-time points.

    8 – Wisnauskas has six career eight-point games as a Terrapin – the most in program history – last posting eight (5G, 3A) in Maryland's season-opening win over High Point.

  • Maryland was ranked No. 1 in the country in both the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll this week for the seventh straight week. This was their second week as the unanimous selection.
  • The Terps have been tabbed No. 1 in at least one of the polls at some point during the year in four of the last six seasons.

  • Maryland has won 36 consecutive games when allowing an opponent under 10 goals dating back to the 2017 National Championship season. Maryland allowed the seventh-ranked Irish just nine goals two weekends ago. 
  • The Terps' defense held opponents to 10 or fewer goals in six of their eight games this season. The steallar defense comes alongside a squad that has forced 79 turnovers. 
  • Logan Wisnauskas has started 65 consecutive games and recorded a point in all 65. 
  • Maryland was won 20 consecutive regular season games dating back to Feb. 18, 2020. 
  • A Terp has record a hat trick in 47 straight games dating back to May 26, 2018.

Coaching Matchup
  • John Tillman is in his 15th season as a head coach, and 12th with the Terps, with a 170-59 career record for a (.739) winning percentage. Tillman is 150-40 (.786) as Maryland's head coach.   
  • Michigan coach Kevin Conry is in his fifth season with a career record of 26-30 (.464). Conry was a coach at Maryland from 2013-17 where he worked with the defensive unit. Conry was an assistant coach as current Terps assistant coach Jesse Bernhardt was an All-American on the field.
