Terps Record Record Setting Day at Split Meets

Charlottesville, VA / Waco, TX – The Terps track and field teams had a record setting weekend competing in the UVA Challenge and the Michael Johnson Invitational.

Several Terps moved up the record boards this weekend, as they turned in season and personal best performances. Ariana and Kattiana Ealy-Pulido led the way for the Terrapins, setting the number one and number three times in program history for the 100m hurdles.

UVA Challenge Notes:

  • Chelsey Cole took fourth place in the triple jump, reaching a mark of 12.80m - fourth in Terrapins history.
  • Kamryn Henderson threw to a mark of 14.70m in the shot put - a personal record and the seventh best mark in program history. Sarah George (13.90m) also set a personal best in the event.
  • Solomon Lawrence (1:51.39) and Eric Albright (1:51.73) recorded personal bests in the 800m, while Maxwell Myers (1:52.55) also had a season best showing. 
  • Christine Laurie (2:11.71) turned in her second personal best performance of the weekend, competing in the 800m. Mackenzie Morgan (2:12.72) also competed in the event. 
  • Destiny Ward (24.97s) set a new season best competing in the 200m.
  • Brandon Turpin hurdled to a personal best 54.28s finish in the 400m hurdles. Drake Murphy also competed in the event. 
  • Gerald Norgbe jumped to a season best 14.50m mark in the triple jump.
  • Jeff Kline threw to a mark of 17.01m in the shot put.
Baylor Notes:
  • Ariana Ealy-Pulido once again broke the program record in the 100m hurdles, finishing in 13.49s. Kattiana Ealy-Pulido also hurdled to a 13.72s finish - the third fastest time in Terrapins history.
  • Caleb Dean sprinted to a 10.33s finish in the 100m dash, coming in as the third fastest time in Terrapins history for the event. Kamari Trotz (10.42s) also recorded the fifth fastest time in Terps history in the event.
  • The Maryland relay squad of Trotz, Dean, Vereen and Ewan sprinted to a 40.30s finish in the 4x100 relay, taking fourth place.
  • Jaida Smith sprinted to an impressive 11.78s finish in the 100m dash.

Hopkins Invite:
 
  • Gwendolyn Zeckowski had a season best performance in the Pole Vault with a clearance of 3.61m.
  • Matthew Bigelow followed with a clearance of 4.40m in the men's vault competition.

"Today we saw a lot of breakthrough performances at this turning point in the season. Many of these marks will propel us into post season competition."
Up Next
The Terrapins will travel to Philadelphia, PA to compete in the Penn Relays this Thursday through Saturday (4/28-4/30).
