Terps Claim Second Big Ten Win Over Rutgers

Piscataway, NJ -- Maryland once again set their season-high team score defeating Rutgers 196.875 - 196.325 at Jersey Mike's Arena. The Terps (4-2, 2-2 B1G) continue to ride positive momentum in 2023, improving their team score in every meet this season.

Saturday's meet kicked off on bars for the Terps as they scored a strong 49.300 team score, their second-highest on the event this season. Sierra Kondo led the way matching her season high with a 9.900. Elizabeth Debarberie (9.875) also contributed heavily on bars as well, matching her season high. The second rotation carried over the same momentum as Alexsis Rubio and Reese McClure scored 9.825 on the vault for the second consecutive meet. This is the fourth time in five meets that McClure has posted a 9.825.

Maryland moved to floor, where they executed an excellent third rotation, scoring a season-best 49.375. Three Terps, Alexa Rothenbuescher (9.925), Rhea LeBlanc (9.875) and Taylor Rech (9.825) set a new career high on the event. Emma Silberman also matched her career high earning a 9.900 her best score since March 6, 2020 at the Towson Tri. The Terps team score is their highest since posting a 49.400 in the same meet on March 6, 2020.

Josephine Kogler and the Terps anchored Saturday's meet on beam with the sophomore leading the way scoring a 9.925, a new career high. Komoroski continued to be a freshman phenom on beam also setting a new career high with a 9.900. Silberman finished third in the all-around finishing with a 38.750.

Maryland will return home to XFINITY Center on Friday, Feb. 17 as they face Southern Connecticut State. This will be the Terps Beauty and the Beast meet as the Gym Terps compete side by side with Maryland wrestling. The Meet will be available on B1G+ with updates available @TerpsGymnastics on Twitter.
