Jason Savacool was named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
The Baldwinsville, New York native took the mound as the Terps Friday night starter in Oxford, Mississippi striking out nine Ole Miss batters in seven innings of work, giving up zero earned runs over 102 pitches. Savacool allowed just five hits and did not offer a single free pass in the Terps 9-2 victory over No. 4 Ole Miss. The right-hander was ranked the No. 10 starter in college baseball by D1Baseball and received pre-season All-American recognition from D1Baseball, Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball News heading into the 2023 campaign.
