COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Terrapins return home for their first weekend series at The Bob. The Terps welcome the Bryant Bulldogs for a three-game set starting March 1. All three games of the series will be streamed on B1G+ and will air on the Maryland Baseball Network
Maryland defeated Georgetown on Feb. 27 at home by a score of 14-3. The Terrapins scored their 14 runs on 9 hits and 10 walks. Kevin Keister and Alex Calarco led the Terps with four RBI respectively. Ryan Van Buren picked up his second win of the season, while Duke McCarron threw three innings in relief to pick up the first save of his career. In their second midweek game, the Terps lost a heart-breaker at VCU.
The Terps hold a 13-2 record in the all-time series with the Bulldogs and have won the last five games in the match-up. The last game between the squads came on March 8, 2020, with the Terps taking a 13-3 win.
Bryant (1-4) is coming off taking one out of three last weekend against George Washington. After taking the opening game of the series 13-10, the Bulldogs would lose the final two games of the weekend tilt 12-4 and 16-3. The Bulldogs hosted Stonehill on Tuesday, dropping the midweek match-up 5-3. Gavin Greger leads the Bulldogs in both batting average and RBI, as the sophomore outfielder hits for a .500 batting average and has nine RBI through the team's first five games. Gavin Noriega leads the team with five long balls so far this season, which currently ranks in the top-10 nationally.
Ready Orr Not
- Junior Jacob Orr is second on the Terps with a .357 average through eight games this season. Orr has one home run on the season and also has six RBI.
- On Opening Day, Orr hit a two-run homer to help start the comeback for the Terps. This marked the second consecutive opening day game where Orr hit a home run, with the junior hitting a home run in the season opener last year against USF.
- These home run in consecutive years on opening day makes Orr the first Terrapin to accomplish this feat in 25 years. Orr is also one of only three players in Division I that have homered on opening day in both 2023 and 2024. The other two players are Jonathan Vastine of Vanderbilt and Bryce Chance of Mississippi State.

Hojnar Runs Wild in Texas
- Sam Hojnar erupted offensively for the Terps during their trip to the Kleberg Bank College Classic. Hojnar hit a home run and picked up four RBI in back-to-back for the Terps. Hojnar went 2-4 with a home run and four RBI in Maryland's 7-5 win over Texas A&M Corpus Christi on Feb. 23. Hojnar would back that up with a 2-5 effort against Pitt on Feb. 24, where the redshirt senior hit a pair of doubles and drove in four runs. The last time a Terrapin player had consecutive games with four RBI was Jacob Orr, who accomplished the feat last season on May 3 and May 7 against Delaware and Nebraska.
- For the week, Hojnar drove in a total of 10 runs, while hitting for a .375 batting average and got on base at a .500 clip. Coming into the week with no home runs, Hojnar would club two on the week,
- Hojnar currently leads the Terrapins with 12 RBI to start the season and is tied for the team lead with two home runs, while hitting for a .270 average for the Naperville, Illinois product.

Maryland Baseball: a Hacopian Family Tradition
- Three Hacopians have donned the Maryland uniform. Currently brothers Eddie and Chris feature for the Terps in 2024. The one to get it all started was the patriarch of the family, Derek. Derek Hacopian was the ACC Player of the Year in 1992 for the Terrapins
- Derek Hacopian held the single-season record for home runs for a Terp with 22, which he set in 1992. That record stood for 30 years, before Chris "Bubba" Alleyne in 2022. Hacopian hit for the triple crown in 1992, also finishing that year with 83 RBI (2nd most all-time in program history) and a .492 batting average (3rd all-time).
- Eddie Hacopian made his debut for the Terps during the 2023 season. He finished his first year in College Park with a .328 batting average, eight home runs and 49 RBI. Eddie currently is first on the team with a .414 batting average and has 10 RBI through eight game this season.
- Chris Hacopian rounds out the list, as the freshman made his debut in the season-opener for the Terps on Friday. Chris currently tied for the team lead with two home runs through eight games in 2024, and is tied for the fourth-most RBI on the team with seven.

Déjà vu Anyone
- In Maryland's 14-5 win over Georgetown on Feb. 27, the Terps scored seven runs in the first innings. The last time the Terps scored seven run in the first inning was in their 19-7 win over Delaware on May 3 last season.
- The starting and winning pitcher in that game against Delaware in 2023 was Ryan Van Buren, who also started and got the win in the game against Georgetown this season. Van Buren set career-highs in innings pitched and strikeouts in the outing against Georgetown, throwing six innings and striking out seven batters.

Van Buren was also the starting and winning pitcher the last time the The Terps scored seven runs in the first inning, a 19-7 win over Delaware on May 3 of last season.
