Box Score CHARLOTTE, NC – Chris Hacopian and Eddie Hacopian hit home runs in Maryland baseball's 13-2 win over Charlotte on Sunday at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. The game was the first of a doubleheader between the two schools.
Chris, a freshman, hit two home runs in the game. The first was a solo shot in the top of the second inning, and the second was a three-run bomb in the ninth. He is tied for a team-best four home runs on the season. Chris captured the first two-homer game since Matt Woods on May 13, 2023 against Minnesota.
Eddie, a junior, launched a two-run home run in the eighth inning. His home run was his first of the season and ninth of his career. The brothers combined for five hits, three home runs and seven RBIs.
Elijah Lambros and Alex Calarco also hit home runs in the game. Lambros' was a two-run home run that contributed to six unanswered runs for Maryland (11-4) to begin the game. Calarco's was a solo home run that served as the dagger. The Terps had their first game with five-plus home runs since a seven home run performance April, 26, 2023 against Georgetown.
Logan Koester received the starting nod on the mound and came away with his fourth win of the season. He pitched six innings and struck out a season-high five batters. He also surrendered just two runs on five hits. Nate Haberthier entered the game and allowed just three hits in the final three innings. He recorded his second save of the season. It was the fifth time this season that a Maryland pitcher went three or more innings to receive a save.
Charlotte (8-7) scored two runs to halt the run in the third and fifth innings but went scoreless for the remainder of the game.
