March 8-10, 2024
Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium

COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The Terrapins begin a seven-game road swing as they travel to Charlotte to take on the 49ers. The Terrapins are coming off their first series sweep of the 2024 campaign and a midweek win on Tuesday. All three games will be streamed on ESPN+ and air on the Maryland Baseball Network. *Due to inclement weather, the schedule has been adjusted. Game 1 on Friday, Mar 8 will begin at 3 PM. There will be a doubleheader on Sunday, March 10 with the first game of the doubleheader starting at 12 PM, followed by the second game which will begin 50 minutes after the conclusion of the first game and will be reduced to seven innings.*

Maryland secured its first series sweep of the 2024 campaign, taking all three from the visiting Bryant Bulldogs. The Terrapins won the series with a combined score of 26-10, and reached double-digit hits in all three games. Pitching led the Terps in the first two games of the series. Kenny Lippman worked six innings, allowing just three hits, no earned runs, and striking out nine batters. The nine strikeouts by Lippman on Friday were the most for the right-hander in his career at Maryland. Logan Koester led the Terps with a seven inning performance in game 2 of the series, equaling Lippman's three hits allowed and holding the Bulldogs scoreless. The Terps closed the weekend with the offense scoring 11 runs, thanks in part to 10 hits and nine walks by the offense. Logan Berrier threw 3.2 innings in relief, getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the third inning to keep the Terps in the game early on. The Terps used outstanding pitching performances by Ryan Van Buren and Omar Melendez in a close 3-2 win over Delaware on Tuesday. Kevin Keister went 3-4 and drove in two of Maryland's three runs in the game, while Jacob Orr knocked in the third on an RBI single.

The Terps and the 49ers have faced twice all-time, both coming during the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Charlotte took the first game of the regional 13-10 slug-fest on June 4, 2021. In the second meeting in the regional, The Terrapins eliminated the 49ers in a 2-1 victory on June 6, 2021. A walk-off single by Justin Vought in the bottom of the ninth secured the win for the Terps. Maryland's pitching only allowed five hits in the game as Ryan Ramsey and Elliot Zoellner combined to stifle the 49er offense

Charlotte (7-6) are coming off a weekend series where it took one of three from Old Dominion on the road. Charlotte took the first game of the first game of the series by a score of 4-2. The 49ers pitching staff held Old Dominion to just two hits in the win and struck out 17 batters in the game. The 49ers dropped the final two games of the weekend series 4-1 and 3-0. Charlotte faced Western Carolina during the midweek, and came away with a 5-2 win. Thad Ector leads the team with a .378, while Carson Bayne is the team leader in home runs with three. Brandon Stalhman is the team leader with 11 RBI through 13 games this season, and is tied for second on the program with two homers. Tony Rossi leads Charlotte on the mound with a 1-0 record, 0.00 ERA, four saves, and 20 strikeouts and his holding opposing hitter to a .061 batting average. Rossi's four saves this year are tied for third-most in the country to this point in the season. As a staff, Charlotte pitchers are the third-most strikeouts in the country, coming into the series with 154.
