Biography
As a Freshman (2011-12): Maryland's top competitor in the 100 breast (55.57) and 200 breast (1:58.04)...in his first ACC Championships, the freshman captured 12th place in the 100 breast (55.57) and touched the wall fourth in the 200 breast (1:58.04)...his fourth-place finish in the 200 breast was the Terps' top performance of the championships...captured the 200 breast (1:59.68) and took fourth in the 100 breast (56.88) at the Terrapin Cup.
Before Maryland: Competed for LaSalle College under Coach Frank Lichtner...2012 Olympic Trials Qualifier...was sixth overall in the 200 breast at Junior Nationals...2011 Pennsylvania State Champion in the 100 breaststroke...also swam for Central Bucks Swim Team for coaches Stu Kukla and Jeff Faikish.
Personal: Son of Paul and Barbara Speese...Has two brothers, Andrew and Bobby...Andrew swims for the University of Delaware...Member of the National Honor Society...Lists biggest sports thrill as making the Olympic Trials.
