COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team, ranked No. 75 nationally, lost to No. 17 Wake Forest, 6-1, Sunday afternoon in an Atlantic Coast Conference match held at Leighton Stadium on the Wake Forest campus.

The Terrapins fell to 7-9 on the season and 1-6 in ACC play, while the Demon Deacons improved to 12-4 on the season and 6-2 in the conference.

Senior Marianne Baker, ranked No, 88 nationally, notched a point for the Terps with her win over No. 60 Alexandra Hirsch, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 1 singles position.

Freshman Eleanor Peters lost her match to No. 103 Ashlee Davis, 6-3, 6-0, at the No. 2 singles slot, while freshman Elyse Steiner also fell to Sasha Kulikova, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 4 singles position.

Sophomore Michal Amir lost to Ana Jerman, 6-3, 7-6, at the No. 3 singles slot. Senior Brooke Rogers fell to Sierra Poske, 6-0, 6-0, at the No. 5 postion, while freshman Maggie MacKeever also lost to Christine Simpson, 6-1, 6-3, at the No. 6 position.

The Terps won one of the three doubles matches, with the freshman duo of Steiner and Lisa Miller defeating Simpson and Poske, 7-6. Baker and Peters lost to Hirsch and Davis, 8-3, while Amir and MacKeever lost to Jerman and Kulikova, 8-1.

The Terrapins will play host to Georgetown at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Tennis Center at College Park.
