Maryland is looking for its first ACC series victory since late March, when the Terps took two from the sixth-ranked Clemson Tigers in College Park. In that series, Maryland won the first two games, 4-3 and 4-1, before falling 5-0 on the final day of the weekend.
The Terps offense is led by freshman AJ Casario, who is batting .320. Sophomore third baseman Mike Murphy has been the top run producer, notching 37 runs batted in and five home runs. Senior shortstop Dan Melvin holds the team lead in home runs with seven.
In the bullpen, juniors Brad Taylor and Brett Cecil have been the top hurlers, with Taylor holding a team-best 1.95 ERA in 26 appearances, with one save. Cecil, who already holds the single-season and career save records at Maryland, has eight in 2007, along with a 5-5 record and 3.38 ERA in 29 appearances.
Maryland currently stands in sixth place in the ACC Atlantic Division, five games behind Boston College and Wake Forest, and 11th overall in the conference.
