COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team looks to finish up a six-game homestand in winning fashion with 6 p.m. games against George Mason on Tuesday and James Madison on Wednesday.
The Terps (15-28) split a pair of mid-week games against Colonial Athletic Association teams last week and play another pair of CAA teams this week.
George Mason is 26-12 and 10-5 in CAA play, while James Madison is 20-19 and 11-4 in the CAA.
On Tuesday, Maryland will send RHP Blair Delean (2-1, 6.55) to the mound to face Mason's RHP Kris Mengle (2-1, 7.53). Against Old Dominion last week, Delean took a no-hitter into the seventh inning before having it broken up by a triple with one out in the inning. Still, the junior earned the win and matched career-highs with 6 1/3 innings pitched and eight strikeouts.
Matt Marquis is riding an 11-game hitting streak dating back to a two-hit performance in the second game of a doubleheader with Boston College on April 10. The sophomore went 2-for-3 with his team-leading fifth home run of the season on Sunday against No. 2 Virginia and is tied for the team lead with a .328 batting average in April.
Jack Cleary has also had a good month offensively, recording 20 hits in 61 at-bats to tie Marquis with a .328 April average.
Brandon Padula paces the team with his .374 season average, in addition to leading the team in RBI (30), slugging percentage (.523), on-base percentage (.445) and hits (58).
Mascots from the Washington and Potomac Nationals will be at Tuesday's game against George Mason and will be participating in a number of activities throughout the evening. Admission to all mid-week games is free.
