CLEMSON, S.C. - Maryland broke a tie in the top of the ninth inning when Alfredo Rodriguez doubled down the left-field line and scored on Michael Montville's single to right field for a 7-6 win over Clemson on Sunday afternoon.

Korey Wacker worked out of trouble in the bottom half of the inning by striking out Clemson's Brad Miller, who was 10-for-13 in the series, and retiring Spencer Kieboom on a fielder's choice with two men on to preserve the win.

Wacker, who came on in relief of starter Chuck Ghysels after Clemson scored two runs in the fifth for a 5-4 lead, pitched 4 1/3 innings and allowed just one run as the Terps (15-17, 3-12) rallied twice for go-ahead runs.

Trailing by one in the sixth, Tim Kiene led off with an infield single and Austin Kilbourne doubled down the left-field line to put runners on the corners. After Kyle Convissar and Charlie White drew a pair of walks to knot the score at 5-5, Rodriguez reached on a fielder's choice that allowed Kilbourne to score for a one-run Maryland advantage.

Clemson (18-13, 6-9), however, tied it in the bottom half of the sixth on Richie Shaffer's run-scoring double to the gap in left-center.

The seventh and eighth innings were scoreless for both teams, setting up the ninth-inning heroics by Rodriguez and Montville.

Wacker (2-1) earned the win, while Clemson's Alex Frederic (0-3) took the loss after pitching four innings and giving up one run.

Maryland, which had taken a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a sacrifice fly by Montville before Clemson scored three over the next two innings, went back ahead with a three-run fourth inning.

Austin Kilbourne ripped a bases-loaded single to left field that scored two to make it 3-3 and Charlie White broke the tie with a run scoring single to left-center field. Rodriguez finished the day 3-for-4, while Kiene and Kilbourne had two-hit games for the second time in three days.

The Terps return to College Park on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. matchup with Delaware State.
