COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland swimming and diving team honored its senior class with a dominating sweep of Georgetown Saturday at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.

The men's team topped the Hoyas 228-47 and the women picked up their ninth dual meet win of the season with a 227-54 victory.

First place finishes for No. 22-ranked Maryland (9-1) on the women's side included Victoria Cassidy in the 200 free (1:51.81), Ginny Glover in the 50 back (26.36) and 100 free (50.70), Alexa Hamilton in the 50 breast (29.80) and 100 breast (1:04.49), Jennifer Roberts in the 100 fly (55.78) and 200 IM (2:04.99), Melanie Busch in the 50 free (23.57) and 100 back (56.43), Megan Zarriello in the 500 free (5:07.23), and Megan Lafferty in the 50 fly (25.72).

Alisa Kurbatova won the 1-meter (323.10) dive and Jessica Whelan captured the 3-meter (326.02). The Terps also swept both relays with the team of Glover, Hamilton, Lafferty and Fittin winning the 200 medley (1:43.29) and Busch, Fittin, Lafferty and Glover taking the 200 free (1:34.79).

The men were led by first place finishes from Bradley Dillon in the 200 free (1:40.80), Matt Meserole in the 50 back (23.86), Anderson Sloan in the 50 breast (25.92) and 100 breast (56.86), John Hauser in the 100 fly (50.31), Charlie Rommel in the 50 free (20.70) and 100 free (46.23), Kyle Madley in the 100 back (51.21), Matthew Tynan in the 500 free (4:37.67), Jeff Winters in the 50 fly (22.35), and Andrew Relihan in the 200 IM (1:53.93).

Tim Tolino won the 1-meter (297.15) and 3-meter dive (323.17). Maryland won both relays as the team of Dillon, Sloan, Winters and Hauser touched the wall first in the 200 medley (1:30.70) and Hauser, Jon Thielen, Rob Maurer and Sean Stewart captured the 200 free (1:24.01).

Saturday was the Eppley finale for seniors Ashley Cox, Glover, Hamilton, Meggie Schmidt, Martha VanLieshout, Stewart, Relihan and junior Kurbatova.

"It's been a great journey for me with these seniors. I've been here four years and so have they," head coach Sean Schimmel said. "It's been an honor to work with them and their families during this process.

"We look at Georgetown as another step for championships, both ACC and NCAA, and the team did a nice job of taking that step forward today."

The meet versus Georgetown was Maryland's final tune-up before conference championships. The Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Swimming and Diving Championships will be held Feb. 15-18 on the campus of Virginia Tech. The men's championships begin Feb. 22 in Blacksburg.
