2002 Update:
• Played in all 13 games on close defense and man-down unit, Terps have allowed just 20 EMG on 65 chances (30.8 pct).
• Made first career start on close defense on Senior Night vs. Yale (4/26), grabbing a groundball.
On Hoffman: A veteran defender who will be given an opportunity to play on the man-down unit this season … a three-year player who continues to battle hard for playing time … an excellent student.
As a junior (2001): Saw action in seven games … scooped up three groundballs with one each against Air Force (2/24), Duke (3/4) and UMBC (5/5) … member of the ACC Honor Roll and Maryland Honor Roll.
As a sophomore (2000): Played in two games … saw action in season opener against Mount St. Mary's (2/27), gaining his first groundball … also played at UMBC (5/6) in regular-season finale.
As a freshman (1999): Played in three games as a freshman, making debut against Providence (2/27).
Before Maryland: Three-sport athlete at St. Mary's in Annapolis, Md. …lettered for three seasons in lacrosse under Jim Moorehead …named all-county in lacrosse as a senior … helped St. Mary's to an undefeated 17-0 season as a sophomore … also earned three letters in football and wrestling … earned all-state, all-county and all-metro in football as a senior and junior at tight end and defensive tackle … won the Al Laromore Award as the best defensive player in the county.
