Nelligan Notches 100th Career Victory As Terps Score A 195.525

DENTON, Texas—Head coach Brett Nelligan picked up his 100th career victory, as the Maryland gymnastics team took first place in a tri-meet against Brown and Texas Woman's University on Sunday.

Maryland totaled a season-high team score of 195.525 while TWU and Brown followed behind with team scores of 194.275 and 193.900, respectively. With the victory, Maryland moves to 11-5-1 on the season and 3-3 in the Big Ten.

“My goal is to continue building a successful program,” head coach Brett Nelligan said, “Getting to this milestone is really an attribute to the amazing coaches and student athletes I've been able to work with over the years. It's very special.”

The GymTerps captured a share of the individual title on all four apparatuses. Stephanie Giameo (9.900) tallied a season-high to take the beam crown. Karen Tang (9.900) won the bars title. Giameo and Kathy Tang (9.800) shared a part of the floor title, while Abbie Epperson (9.850) shared the vault crown with Madison Nettles of TWU.

The Terps started the meet strong on beam, tallying a team score of 48.675. Sarah Faller (9.750), Leah Slobodin (9.700), Dominiquea Trotter (9.700) and Dani Kram (9.625) all added high scores as the team did not count a fall on the event.

In the second rotation, floor, the team continued to impress, recording a team score of 48.750. in addition to Giameo and Tang's scores, Shannon Skochko added a 9.750.

On vault, the Terps were aggressive, tying a season-high team total of 49.150. Outside of Epperson's top score, Trotter, Katy Dodds, Kathy Tang, Karen Tang and Skochko all tallied a score of 9.825. Trotter set a career-high, while Skochko and Epperson tied their existing career high.

The Terrapins put the meet away on the final rotation, bars. Led by Karen Tang (9.900) the team tied its season-high score with a 48.950. For the second consecutive meet, Tang recorded a score of 9.900 or higher. Epperson (9.825), Faller (9.750) and Kathy Tang (9.750) all added impressive scores as well.

The GymTerps return home on March 8 at 2 p.m. for the final home meet of the season. The Terps will take on Bridgeport, William & Mary and Southern Connecticut for 'Senior Day.'
