COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior defender Casey Ikeda has been named a 2015 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Scholar All-American for his dedication and commitment both on the lacrosse field and in the classroom.
The 2015 Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Ikeda is set to graduate in May with a degree in family science. The Berwyn, Pa., native carries a 3.16 GPA and has been named a Scholar Athlete six times and to the Dean's List three times throughout his time at Maryland.
Ikeda was recently inducted into the prestigious Maryland Medallion Society for his significant contributions and general advancement of the interests of the University of Maryland. The society inducts 10 male and 10 female students from across the campus annually.
After battling injuries early in his career, the senior has turned into the Terrapins' ironman. Ikeda has started every game since his sophomore year, a span of 48 consecutive games. The captain was named First Team All-Big Ten and was also on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List for the nation's most outstanding player.
The fifth-year senior has been a part of four NCAA Final Four teams, including this year's squad which is headed to Philadelphia this weekend.
