Conry Promoted to Associate Head Coach

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men's lacrosse head coach John Tillman announced Thursday that Kevin Conry has been promoted to associate head coach. Conry has led Maryland's defensive units to top-10 national rankings in each of his first three years at Maryland.

“Coach Conry has played a vital role in our program's development over the last three seasons and he is more than deserving of this promotion,” Tillman said. “His immense knowledge and experience will continue to pay dividends towards our program's success in the coming years.”

Recently named the 2015 IMLCA Assistant Coach of the Year, Conry's 2015 defensive unit led the nation in scoring defense by allowed just 7.1 goals-per-game. The Terrapins' stifling defense helped propel the team to the NCAA National Championship game.

Among the leaders of Conry's impressive 2015 defense was goalie Kyle Bernlohr, who won the Kelly Award for the nation's top goalkeeper in his first season between the pipes for the Terps. With the award, Maryland became the first team to win the Kelly Award in back-to-back seasons with different goalkeepers since 1961-62 (Niko Amato, 2014).

Bernlohr and defender Casey Ikeda were named USILA First Team All-Americans, while fellow defender Matt Dunn was named a Third Team All-American.

In total, Conry has coached Maryland defensive players to a total of 10 USILA All-America honors in three seasons.
