Terps Rake In Summer Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland baseball team's fine summer continued as multiple Terps received honors this week.

Sophomore RHP Cameron Enck, sophomore RHP Hunter Parsons and junior shortstop Kevin Smith were named 2016 Perfect Game/Rawlings Summer Collegiate All-Americans Thursday.

Enck, a first-team selection, sparkled in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League for the Amsterdam Mohawks, setting a new PGCBL season ERA record with a spectacular 0.61 mark in 59 innings pitched. Enck struck out 28 and posted a 7-1 record.

One of the best pitchers in the Cal Ripken League, Parsons, a third-team selection, set league highs in wins (6) and strikeouts (44) while recording a 1.40 ERA for the Baltimore Redbirds. Parsons walked just seven batters in 38.1 IP.

Smith, an honorable mention pick, helped lead the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox to their third straight CCBL title, going 6-for-12 with a home run and three RBI to earn League Championship Series MVP honors. For the summer, Smith batted .301 with 12 doubles and two home runs.

The East Greenbush, N.Y., native also notched 14 RBI and 21 runs scored, while ranking as one of the top defensive shortstops in the CCBL. The Red Sox were named Perfect Game's top team of the summer.

Dunn, Smith Named Cape Cod All-League Selections

Smith and sophomore second baseman Nick Dunn were named Cape Cod All-League selections Wednesday.

Dunn starred for the Brewster Whitecaps, batting .311 with 25 RBI and 26 runs scored. He notched 11 extra base hits and walked 15 times. He is coming off a spectacular debut season in which he earned freshman All-American honors.
