In addition to the singles competition, Yemelyanenka and Usui will team up in the doubles flight, along with Kulkarni and Gevel.
Maryland dominated the 2017 Invitational, taking home three titles at the end of the weekend. Yemelyanenka and Usui each captured their respective doubles flights, while Usui and Kulkarni teamed up for a doubles crown.
Teams attending the 2018 tournament include George Washington, Richmond, Rutgers, Towson and UNC-Wilmington. On Friday, play begins at noon, while Saturday and Sunday feature 9 a.m. starts. The tournament features two doubles flights and four singles brackets.
All matches will take place at the Brigade Sports Complex within the Tose Family Tennis Center (indoor courts) and Fluegel-Moore Tennis Stadium (outdoor courts). Both facilities are off-campus, so traveling fans will be able to drive and park at the facility. Both tennis areas are adjacent to each other at the Brigade Sports Complex.
Juniors Usui and Yemelyanenka had a strong start to their season, winning the doubles bracket at the Bedford Cup. The two defeated a team from Georgetown to claim Maryland's first title in the 2018-19 season. Usui and Yemelyanenka excelled the entire weekend, going 4-0 on their way to the title.
