Lee Grabs Two Hits in Midweek at UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Junior shortstop AJ Lee tallied two singles and drove in a run, but the Maryland baseball team (9-11, 0-0 B1G) fell to North Carolina, 13-1, on Tuesday.

Junior outfielder Marty Costes also got on base twice on the day following a pair of hits.

UNC got out in front early, scoring the opening run of the game in the first inning. A Tar Heel lineup that featured six hitters owning averages above .300 was able to score in each of the first five innings to take control of the game.

Lee's RBI double came in the sixth inning, scoring Nick Dunn who led off the inning with a single. Dunn's hot hitting continued, and he has now reached base in every game of Maryland's road trip. He is hitting a team-best .351 on the season.

Zach Jancarski and Kevin Biondic each picked up a single in the game.

Maryland pitcher Mike Vasturia worked a scoreless inning for the Terrapins. He struck out one batter in the eighth and lowered his season ERA to 1.17.

Maryland's road trip will conclude with a game at Elon on Wednesday, Mar. 21. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
