COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Purdue scored five runs in the seventh to rally and defeat the Maryland baseball team, 8-6, at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium Sunday afternoon.

The Terrapins (16-23, 3-8 Big Ten) led 6-2 after six, but Purdue scored five in the seventh to ultimately grab the win. Senior Zach Jancarski had three RBIs while starter Tyler Blohm tossed six innings.  

Maryland stuck first with a four-run third. Juniors AJ Lee and Nick Dunn laced consecutive singles before Lee came into score on a wild pitch. After Kevin Biondic reached on a fielder's choice, Will Watson got on when Harry Shipley dropped a pop up at second base. Jancarski punished the error, rocketing a three-run homer to left field.

Purdue picked up single runs in the fourth and the sixth before the Terps grabbed two runs in the bottom half of the sixth. Junior Brad Barnett and Lee walked before Dunn ripped a double into right field to plate both.

The Boilermakers came back to take the lead in the seventh, plating five runs on just two hits off Blohm and freshman Grant Burleson. The Terps had the winning run at the plate in the ninth, but Jancarski popped out to end the game.

Maryland returns to action Tuesday afternoon against George Mason at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium at 4 p.m.
