Megan Taylor of the Maryland women's lacrosse team was named as one of four finalists for the Honda Sport Award Tuesday.

Taylor, who this past week became the first goalie in the history of lacrosse to win the Tewaaraton Award, led the Terps to a 22-1 record and National Championship in her senior season, backlining a sensational Maryland defense. In her four years as a Terp, Taylor went 84-4 in goal.Â

Named the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year for the fourth year in a row and the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player this season, Taylor tallied an incredible .551 save percentage in goal this season (217 saves, 177 goals allowed), with an 8.44 goals against average while playing one of the nation's toughest schedules. The senior had over a 50-percent save percentage in 17 of 23 games this year, including both games in the Final Four.Â
Taylor is a two-time All-American and was the 2017 IWLCA Goaltender of the Year. This season, the elite goaltender was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for six weeks in a row and the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week for three weeks over that span. Taylor ended her Maryland career with a .512 save percentage, stands second all-time in Maryland history with 740 saves, won two National Championships, seven Big Ten Championships and never lost a game at home.Â
Maryland has won the Honda Award seven times. Zoe Stukenberg won most recently in 2017, while Taylor Cummings won three years in a row from 2004-06. Current assistant coach
Caitlyn Phipps earned the award in 2010. Jen Adams was Maryland's first recipient of the Honda Award, winning it in 2000 and 2001.Â

Sam Apuzzo (Boston College), Dempsey Arsenault (Boston College) and Selena Lasota (Northwestern) were also named finalists.

The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 43 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies "the best of the best in collegiate athletics". The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2019 Honda Cup which will be presented on a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2019, in downtown Los, Angeles.
Honda Sport Award winners will be presented with the honor during on-campus presentations throughout the year and all Honda Sport Award winners become a finalist for the prestigious 2019 Honda Cup award presented in June.
The CWSA, celebrating its 43rd year, has honored the nation's top NCAA women athletes for their superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service. Since commencing its sponsorship in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.1 million in institutional grants to the universities of the award winners and nominees to support women's athletics programs.Â
