Crosland Hits First Career Home Run In 9-5 Loss At Charlotte

Box Score CHARLOTTE, NC – Freshman Jordan Crosland hit his first career home run, but Maryland baseball lost to Charlotte, 9-5, on Friday at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. The 49ers took game one of the three-game series against the Terps.

Lambros finished with two hits as he doubled earlier in the ballgame. Kevin Keister and Eddie Hacopian had the other hits for the Terps.

Freshman relief pitcher Evan Smith struck out five batters in two innings. He also allowed just one hit.

Charlotte pitcher Cole Reynolds went five scoreless innings and struck out 10 batters. Rene Lastres and Juan Correa each homered in the contest.

Coach Swope's Take
"Obviously not the way we wanted the start of the series to go. We got behind early and put ourselves in a big hole that was going to be difficult to fight back from. I'm proud of the guys for continuing to battle as the game wore on. We got to move past this and prepare for the rest of this series. We're going to go work on some things tomorrow on the off day and come back on Sunday."
