ON ETIENNE - Walked on the team last January ... he practiced daily with the team, but did not see action until the final game of the season ... he could prove to be a valuable addition to this year's squad because he has the size to play small forward and the quickness to play guard.
AS A JUNIOR Did not play in the regular season, but saw action in the ACC Tournament, coming off the bench in the final minute against North Carolina ... his lone stat of the season was a turnover in that game.
HIGH SCHOOL Morris-Catholic High School ... he lettered both seasons he played varsity ball ... averaged about nine points a game as a senior forward.
PERSONAL Born Jan. 5, 1967 ... his full name is Max Jean Etienne ... his last name is pronounced E-tea-N ... he is the oldest of four Etienne children ... in the fall condition testing, he bench pressed 225 pounds and had a vertical jump of 30.5 inches ... he is on course to receive his degree in business sociology in May.
