COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Wake Forest left fielder Mac Williamson homered twice, left-hander Tim Cooney held Maryland to one run in six innings on the mound and the Demon Deacons defeated the Terrapins 15-5 Friday night.

Demon Deacon shortstop Pat Blair went 3-for-6 with four RBI and designated hitter Carlos Lopez also drove in four runs as Wake Forest (24-28, 14-15 ACC) scored the games first 10 runs.

Freshman first baseman Tim Kiene recorded the first four-hit game of the season for Maryland (21-34, 5-24 ACC), and freshman second baseman Kyle Convissar went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI.

Cooney (7-2) struck out nine, walked one and allowed five hits, three of them coming in the sixth inning, his last on the mound. Maryland's David Carroll (5-5) lasted just 2 1/3 innings and gave up five runs - four of them earned - while surrendering four hits, walking three and striking out one in the loss.

Wake Forest scored three runs in the first, two in the third, one in the fourth and four more in the fifth to take a commanding 10-run lead, before Maryland was able to get on the scoreboard in the sixth.

Freshman outfielder Charlie White, junior shortstop Alfredo Rodriguez and Kiene led off the sixth with three straight singles to load the bases, and sophomore catcher Jack Cleary was hit by a pitch to force in a run, but Cooney was able to escape further damage and left with a 10-1 lead.

By the time the Terps put together a big inning - a four-run eighth - the Demon Deacons had tacked on four runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. Right fielder James Harris added two hits for Wake Forest, which totaled 16 in the game.

Maryland and Wake Forest play the final game of the series Saturday at 1 p.m. The Terps will honor their seniors prior to the contest.
