COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland (2-11 B1G, 0-6 B1G) is set to return to the XFINITY Center Pavilion Friday evening for a dual match with Indiana (8-6, 1-4 B1G) at 7 pm.
The Terps will wrestle for the first time since falling to #4 Ohio State 30-12 at Good Counsel High School on January 22. UMD will head into the final stretch of its dual match season starting this weekend, with the Terps slated to also take on Northwestern, #2 Penn State, Rider and Drexel in the month of February.
Maryland will also have entries in action at the Messiah Open on Saturday, February 4. In Grantham, Pa.
Friday's match will be streamed live on BTN Plus.
A Look at the HOOSIERS
- Indiana enters Friday's match 8-6 on the year in duals and 1-4 in the Big Ten, coming off a 31-15 defeat to #5 Nebraska on January 29. The Hoosiers have gone down in three of their last four duals, but did notch a 23-14 win over Northwestern on January 27.
- Redshirt senior Nate Jackson (184) headlines the Indiana squad, as the 2016 All-American holds a 24-2 record with a 14-0 mark in dual matches this season. Jackson is currently ranked seventh in the country at 184 pounds, and finished fifth at the NCAA Championships last season.
- Redshirt freshman Devin Skatzka is also ranked for the Hoosiers as the #20 wrestler at 174 pounds. Skatzka has put together a solid first season of dual match competition, with an 11-3 dual record and 21-6 overall mark so far this season.
- Indiana will head north to take on Rutgers Sunday to complete its weekend of head-to-head Big Ten competition.

THREE TERPS TABBED IN INITIAL COACHES' RANKINGS
- Three Maryland wrestlers were ranked in their respective weight classes in the first NCAA coaches' panel rankings for the 2016-17 season released Friday. Redshirt senior Billy Rappo (133), redshirt sophomore Alfred Bannister (149) and redshirt freshman David-Brian Whisler (197) were all ranked in the top-33.
- The final rankings will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2016 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
- Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots in their qualifying tournaments for the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
midlands rewind
- Redshirt sophomore Alfred Bannister (149) led the Terps at the 54th Annual Ken Kraft Midlands Championships December 29-30 with an eighth place finish in the 149-pound bracket.
- Bannister totaled five wins at Midlands, which included a two bonus point victories and a pair of wins in tiebreaker.
- Maryland was 17th overall in the team standings, with the team accounting for nine bonus point victories during the two-day tourney.
- Redshirt senior Billy Rappo surprised some folks in the early rounds of the Midlands Championships, knocking off two seeded opponents in his season debut at 133 pounds.
- Rappo's opening bout was one of the most exciting of the day in front of a large crowd at Welsh-Ryan Arena, coming back to defeat sixth-seeded Tyson Dippery (Rutgers). After going down 4-2, Rappo scrambled from the top position in the second period to put Dippery in a cradle and eventually on his back for an upset pin (4:17).
- The Holland, Pa. native then went to work on 11th-seeded Scott Delvecchio, clinching an 8-3 decision. Rappo finished the tournament 2-2 overall.
