COLLEGE PARK, Md. --

The Maryland offense racked up 11 hits and junior right-hander Taylor Bloom gave up two runs over six and two thirds as the Terps pushed past Princeton, 6-2, Saturday afternoon at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium.

The Terrapins (11-6) were behind after three innings but scored the final five runs of the game to take the victory. Maryland is now 7-0 at home to start the season and have won 10 of its last 11 games.

After Princeton struck first in the top of the second, the Terps tied it up in the bottom half. Senior Brandon Gum was hit by a pitch, and after advancing to second on a balk and then third on a Will Watson flyout, scored when sophomore AJ Lee reached on a bunt single.

The Tigers retook the lead in the third, but Maryland grabbed a single run in the fourth to tie it up again. Watson and senior Madison Nickens opened the inning with a pair of singles before moving up on junior Kevin Smith's sac bunt. Lee nabbed his second RBI of the contest on a sac fly that scored Watson.

Junior Zach Jancarski doubled to left to open the bottom of the fifth before coming into score on a Marty Costes single through the left side. Costes then looked to have scored on a Gum single, but the junior was called out after not touching third base when he turned for home.

Maryland broke the game open in a three-run seventh. Gum walked to start the threat before going all the way to third on consecutive wild pitches. Watson blooped a single into right to plate the senior.

Nickens then clubbed a double to right field to score Watson. The senior ended up scoring on another Lee sacrifice fly.

Bloom settled in in the middle innings and earned the decision after giving up just a pair of runs. He struck out four and walked just one. Sophomore LHP Andrew Miller entered when Bloom allowed consecutive singles with two outs in the seventh and got Maryland out of the jam.

Junior RHP Ryan Hill and redshirt junior RHP Ryan Selmer combined to pitch two innings of spotless relief to finish off the contest.

Maryland returns to action Sunday afternoon against Princeton, with first pitch scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium. Fans can listen live on the Maryland Baseball Network.
