COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Maryland begins postseason play at the Big Ten Tournament at Bart Kaufman Field in Bloomington, Ind., Wednesday night. The fourth-seeded Terps will take on fifth-seeded Iowa to open up the tournament at 8:30 p.m.

LEADING IT OFF
• Maryland enters the Big Ten Tournament as the fourth seed. Maryland was the fourth seed in its first-ever Big Ten Tournament appearances in 2015 and advanced to the final. Maryland has advanced to at least the semifinals in its first two Big Ten Tournaments.
• Maryland head coach John Szefc has won 12 postseason games in his career at Maryland, the most of any coach in program history. He is the only coach in Maryland history to lead the Terps to five consecutive 30-win seasons.
• Freshman Tyler Blohm's eight wins leads the Big Ten and already ranks tied for third all-time in Maryland single season history. Blohm was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, Maryland's first player to ever win that award.
• Brian Shaffer has tossed at least eight innings in three consecutive starts. He was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, becoming the first Maryland player to win an overall conference player award in 25 years (Derek Hacopian, 1992 ACC Player of the Year).
• Shaffer has put together one of the top pitching seasons in school history, sporting a conference best 1.67 ERA (9th in the country) in 97 innings pitched. He is the only player in the conference to toss more than 90 innings this season. Shaffer is second in the conference in strikeouts (98) and third in opposing batting average (.206). Shaffer's 0.91 WHIP Is the best in the Big Ten and 17th in the country.
• One of the most dangerous offensive players in the conference, Marty Costes leads Maryland in average (.336), hits (71), total bases (113) and RBIs (39). He also has added nine home runs and is getting on base at a .432 clip. The Baltimore native is in the top-10 in the conference in six offensive categories. He was named to the All-Big Ten First Team.
• AJ Lee has been sensational down the stretch, batting .376 with six home runs and 22 RBIs in his final 30 games. For the regular season, Lee finished with seven homers, 31 RBIs, a.484 slugging percentage and 14 stolen bases. The Millersville, Md., native was Maryland's best performer in Big Ten play, batting .366 with a .537 slugging percentage. Lee is on an 11-game hitting streak. He was named to the All-Big Ten Third Team.
