COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Sophomores Bubba Fairman and Roman Puglise both earned Big Ten weekly plaudits in a release made by the conference offices Tuesday afternoon. Fairman was named the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week and to the USILA Team of the Week, while Puglise garnered Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Fairman had a career day against Villanova, recording a career-best six points in Maryland's 17-7 victory over the Wildcats. Fairman recorded a career-high four goals in the win, while also posting two assists. The Sandy, Utah recorded the game-winner while helping pace the Maryland offense to a season-high 17 goals.
Puglise was named the conference's DPOW for the second time in a month after a two-point performance against Villanova. The Lorton, Va. native scored his third goal of the season in the win while also notching an assist and a team-high four ground balls. Puglise helped hold the Wildcat to just two goals at halftime and seven overall while also causing a turnover.
The fourth-ranked Terrapins will return to action this Saturday, March 23 when the team hosts No. 19 North Carolina at Maryland Stadium. Faceoff is slated for 4:00 pm and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
